ADV Site Maker
the place Triggers menu is as follows :-
Place Invi Plate
Place Trip Wire
The following will ask you to
place them on the Screen, they are best placed in these
Place Lever trigger
will place a lever on a wall tile.
Place Button trigger places a button onto a
Place Switch places a switch onto a wall tile.
Place Plate places a plate onto a floor tile
Place Invisible Plate places an invisible plate onto
a floor tile.
Place Keyhole places a Keyhole onto a wall tile.
Place Field places a magical field onto a floor
Place Trip Wire places a trip wire onto a floor
there are several actions a trigger can perform, you may
page forward through them by left clicking and back with the
right mouse button on the Action area. also you
can select a trigger from a list with the Choose Trigger option,
these will change the Action to the selected one.
here is an explanation of trigger actions:-
One Pull Action
One Pull Text
One Pull Missile
One Pull Monster
If No Monster
Swap Object Halt
One Pull Lng Text
If No Object
One Pull Action this trigger is used to change a
tile on the map, the trigger when placed will ask you to
SELECT LOCATION AND GRAPHIC FOR ACTION, you now select a tile
and point at the location on the map you want this tile to
appear on pulling the trigger, this tile will appear and disappear every time you pull the trigger, or only appear
once if you select One Pull Action, this may
be used to open an impassable door etc.
Text / One Pull Text on activation
of this trigger, the text you type in will appear at the
bottom of the screen. it will appear every time you pull the
trigger or just once if One Pull Text was
Missile / One Pull Missile on this trigger
you are asked to SELECT LOCATION OF MISSILE this is the start
point of the missile, then once selected, you will have to
choose a direction of travel for the missile, then the
missile type from the list below
SS Killer Gun
this trigger will fire
missiles each time it's activated or just once if One
Pull Missile is selected.
Teleport on this trigger the player will be
teleported to another map location. you sill be prompted to
SELECT LOCATION TO TELEPORT TO.
Monster / One Pull Monster this
trigger will create a chosen monster each time the trigger is
activated or once if One Pull Monster is
selected, at the location chosen.
Question Trigger this trigger will ask a
question of the player and perform an action, you will be
prompted to SELECT LOC AND GFX FOR QUESTION ACTION, you
choose the graphic tile and place it at a location, this tile
will appear if the questions answer is correct, you will then
be asked to TYPE IN TEXT FOR QUESTION (ESC) TO END, this will
allow you to type in your question, using the 'ESC' key to
end typing. you will then be prompted for the ANSWER ? you
type the answer and press return.
Object Trigger this trigger will ask for a
specific object to activate the Action, you will be prompted
to select the graphic and location for the action then OBJECT
? this is asking for an object name, you must type in the
name correctly, you may created the object prior or after the
trigger is placed.
Object Halting this trigger is like the
Object Trigger above but if the object is not supplied no
further triggers at that location will be performed. this is useful for something asking for several objects, each object
opening a part of a passage, etc.
Long Text / One Pull Lng Text this trigger
will allow you to type in a long amount of text, say a story,
tail etc. the text will appear every time the trigger is
activated unless One Pull is selected.
If No Monster this trigger will test for a
monster at a given location, if a monster exists at that
location no more triggers will be processed at this location.
If Monster this trigger tests for the existence of a monster at a location and if one
at the given location no more triggers are processed at that
Swap Object will prompt you to select the
name of the object to swap, you will then be able to select
or create an object to be given the player if the correct
object is supplied.
Swap Object Halting as swap object but if the
correct object isn't supplied no more triggers will be
processed at this location.
Question Halting as a Question trigger but if the
wrong answer is given no more triggers are processed at this
Give Object this trigger will give the player the
selected or created Object.
If Object if there is no object at the selected
location no more triggers will be processed at this
If No Object if there is an object at that location
no more triggers will be processed at this location.
Place Object this trigger will prompt you for a
location to create the Object at and the object to be created
at that location.
Remove Monster this trigger will remove a monster at
the given location.
as you can see, some quite complex triggers may be
created with the above Actions, say an axeman asking for an
axe, swapping if for some wood, then telling a tale of woe.
this will show you the currently placed triggers at a chosen
location, and there action order.
REMOVE TRIGGER this will remove ALL triggers at
a specific location.
Main Menu this returns to the Site Maker Main
Clear Triggers this will remove all triggers from this
